Garden Soiree

Your Style-file for 2020 Micro Weddings

As the city is working on phase reopening with the Covid-19, most big weddings are postponed to 2021. We put together this photoshoot: “Garden Soiree – Your style file for 2020 micro wedding”. We also included some behind the scene planning tips. The goal is to inspire couples who are still wanting to get married in 2020 for their micro weddings. We believe that the key is to do it small (currently under 50), do it outdoor, and keep plenty of social distance. Please keep in mind, this shoot is focused on the design and style perspective. For exact government orders and restrictions, please check with your local authority.

Decide on the location and floor plan

Choosing the location and having a good floor plan is the start. It is best to consult with your wedding planner or wedding designer or the decorator, with their professional eyes, they will give you the best possible recommendations. Therefore, you can still have a beautiful setting. If you don’t have a planning or a wedding designer, try to think from the photographer’s perspective, say if it is at your back yard, do you have a beautiful floral bushes or a big tree as a beautiful head table “backdrop”. That will minimize added in outside decoration.

Be flexible with your décor vision, and stay authentic with the setting

You will most likely have a very different wedding vision before the pandemic. Since the venue and the location is changed now, make sure to adjust your vision to be suitable and authentic to the setting. We recently had a wedding couple reduced their wedding from 300 guests to 50 guests. Instead of doing all glammed indoor ballroom style wedding, we proposed a different approach that suitable for the outdoor garden soiree vision. Instead of doing full room draping, we added tents at the back yard.  instead of chivary chars, we used white garden folding chairs. Instead of having the uplighting all around, we changed to tress lights, patio lights, gazebo lights to create a starry night alfresco dinner. Instead of doing an elegant indoor arch, we changed to the wooden arch.  What we did keep was the floral colors, and a head table backdrop, because there wasn’t a suitable background for the newlywed.

The inspiration behind the “Garden Soiree” photo-shoot

We believe the beauty is all in the details.  When the micro weddings are done right, it could be the best experience. Since the guest counts reduced, the venue changed, this could be your best opportunity to do it small and do it nice. We recommend hire a designer who understands your vision, so the décor and flowers will suit your style and the setting.  Don’t underestimate the complexity to pull together a back-yard wedding, you might not have any references from previous setup, we recommend hiring an experienced planner to bring all the detail together!

Creatives for this “Garden Soiree” photoshoot

It takes a whole village to produce a beautiful wedding, so does producing this photoshoot. Just like producing a wedding, it requires all the puzzle pieces at the right place to ensure all things flow seamlessly.

Thank you, Denise Lin, for the beautiful captures, Jessie Kumagai from Dream Group for the planning, Making Memories with Stationaries, wedding gown, and mask from Hannah Tikkanen, cake from Momo Chen Cakes. Our team of Paradise Events provided concept, design, décor, and floral.
